KIDDINGAROUND

Ups:
- Lots of material that’s seen many audiences
- Great for kids
- Simple instruction
- Not overly hoakey performances/presentations
- See Chris perform the entire show (which is the where the real learning comes in)
– Chris does a good job covering the important elements of what in his performances makes them successful

Downs:
- None :)

Bottom Line:
It’s not about the individual effects, but rather, how to take very simple effects and make them entertaining for children. If you are a children’s performer, you should really take a look at this.

FINALFUSION

The Ups:
- Creative way to end a (non-signed) card routine.
- Comes with a red and a blue case (minor assembly required). Different cards are printed on each case.
- Many variations, most people should find something in their abilities that they can use.

The Downs:
- You can’t give the box away (unless Jay starts selling refills)
- Part of the printed card is visible on the switched in case, however, it shouldn’t be noticed. Think of spectators not noticing a card under a glass in a card under glass routine.

Bottom Line:
This product comes with thorough instructions and two construct-it-yourself cases at a fair price. This is a nice candidate for that routine-ending effect.

IVANISH

There’s always going to be a new way to vanish a coin – and of all the new fancy modern creations, iVanish is by far the most original, but is not without a few minor drawbacks.

The general principle is quite easy to follow and pickup, but performing the vanish so the coin appears to be absorbed into the eye (and nothing else is happening) is where you’re practice will be focused.

Of all the vanishes, variations and routines taught on the DVD, the standard iVanish vanish is nearly angle proof and is quite easy to manage any possible weak viewing areas.

Unlike most modern vanishes however, there are a few *minor* drawbacks to this vanish:
- The coin that vanishes can be borrowed, but you’re probably going to want to use your own. There’s no preparation or anything done to the coin, but trust me when I say this, most folks are probably going to be performing this with one of their own coins.
- If I were going to vanish a signed coin and have it appear somewhere else, this probably wouldn’t be the vanish I would use, although, like above, if you really wanted to, you could.

TRIO

Bang, right there in that book are three complete, powerful, 30 minute, 1-man mentalism shows that require some very basic setups (if any at all).

Each of these acts was designed for one of three ‘specific’ performance settings. Of course, you could easily take any of these well thought out effects and add them singly to your own repertoire, or add some of your own favorite effects into these routines.

One of the things I really liked, particularly about the ‘impromptu’ show and the intimate close up show was just how light they are – you can carry these acts with you in your pockets and be ready to go for a 30 minute set. This is great whether you intend on performing this material or come into some sort of bind and need some good reliable material to get you through your performance.

EMPTIED

At first, I felt that ‘Emptied’ was just going to be a really cool trick you could perform at social events; but after watching this DVD, I realized that this surprisingly practical effect has the potential to perform in paid, real world performing environments.

Teaching on this DVD is top notch and quite thorough. There were quite a few little details covered that easily could have been overlooked and would have greatly taken away from your performances if not presented here.

Gimmick fans are going to like what comes with this DVD. It’s simple, strong, lightweight, and you probably won’t notice it in your pocket. In addition to the basic Emptied effect, a few additional effects are briefly covered and the viewer is challenged to expand outward and see what else they can make of this new gimmick. I’m really excited to see what else can be done with it, too.

INVISIBLETOUCH

The routines on this DVD have the potential to play for crowd of three to an audience of hundreds. Each ‘touch sequence’ is well rehearsed and clearly explained.

What makes these routines great is that the ‘touches’ are excellently incorporated with a metal bending routine of some sort, giving more purpose to the ghostly touches.

There was one segment of the DVD where the sound was simply non existent, but came back after a few minutes. During those few minutes, it was still possible to somewhat follow along with the actions that were going on. Luckily, the section that was affected will not compromise your ability to learn these routines.

Also included on this DVD is Lior’s 10 card poker deal which he has made into a successful segment of his trade show repertoire.

RAINBOWREMIX

Daryl gives you the complete package to perform this popular rope effect. Included with the high quality color woven ropes is an instructional DVD wherein Daryl presents all the basic effects and all his tips on performing this from his many years of experience.

To be honest, there’s not a whole heck of a lot to say here. This is a simple effect, the props are of high quality, the bonus teaching DVD is excellent, and you get all of Daryl’s tips for just $20. A great value.
