It be quite satisfying to hear Mssr Randi describe his delight with the love-in that be Dragon*Con. As the inventor of the rPhone and a person who’s needed de-bunking for years, I say “huzzah” to his enlightenment. Now, where’s my million doddlers? ;)

  5. Barry from Athens says:

I wanted to see James Randi at Dragoncon, but family matters took priority. I’ve been a fan for *mumbly mumbly* years.

Perhaps I can invite him to the college at which I teach.

  6. Jim Callahan says:

Well Randi if you thought what happened at DragonCon with the last guy was a worth mentioning.
(He was one of my guys)
Why would you even bring that up?
But since you did and did not tell the truth about it.

Wait untill you see what is comming.

Have a good night Joy Boy.

For anyone concerned about “the truth” of what happened during the Skeptics vs. Believers panel at Dragon*Con, I’ll mention that the whole thing was professionally filmed, and will be available UNEDITED in the near future. We’ll include time code or anything else you require to validate what happened; that and the thousands of people in the room that were there – and saw it (and cheered for James Randi).

Also, for those concerned that the Believers aren’t properly represented in these debates, perhaps you ought to start planning now on attending next year. You wouldn’t believe how hard it is to get high profile Believers who are already there at Dragon*Con into that room.

  8. Squid says:

My best friend is the gentleman that Mr. Randi mentions having breakfast with who has acromegly. He felt quite honored to be having breakfast with Mr. Randi, and talked about it at quite some legnth afterwards. I just wanted to thank him for that wonderful experience. It means a lot to both him, and myself. Thank you again.

  9. Applicant says:

It appears that Randi is still vocalizing falsehoods even through Alison Michelle Smith of the JREF corrected him several days before and posted the truth on the JREF Forum. This podcast is documented proof that Randi is NOT telling the TRUTH.
I will be the very first to buy the DVD of DragonCon!

  10. John C. Randolph says:

Good heavens! Nobody took The Amazing One to an SF con before this? Someone is certainly remiss. I’m astounded that Asimov never got you to a con.

I’ve always thought of SF fandom as what Mensa was always trying to be: a social venue where you can have an intelligent conversation on pretty much any topic at all.
