AGT, Collectible Magic Books And Jonathan Goodwin [Magic Bulletin]

America’s Got Talent: The Champions saw two magic acts hit the stage last night. First up was Marc Spelmann as Magician X. We’lll share Dania Diaz’s performance a little later today.

Abe Books’ UK website posted on article rounding up a few collectible magic books… not sure exactly how they put this list together (ie value or items they had in stock at time of writing).

Justin Willman’s out promoting season three of Magic For Humans and his latest stop was a 30 minute interview with the Build series, which you can see for free over on Build’s YouTube page.

Longtime readers of iTricks will know Jonathan Goodwin, who currently with The Illusionists, is one of my favorite escape artists of all time. Broadway World Detroit caught up with him as The Illusionists show is playing a stint in the Motor City.

Reuben Lardizabal posted these highlights from the Inner Society of Magic’s Wizard’s Cup stage magic competition held at the Limketkai Centre in Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines. He reports Nelson Polison took the second runner up, Cyrus Cablrela was first runner up and All Jay Edorot won this year’s honors. Congratulations to all!

The Irish Examiner ran an interview with Keith Barry over the weekend covering his experiences as a “brain hacker.” You know, brain hacker might be taken a couple of different ways…

The Bonner County Daily Bee spoke with The Psychic Dynasty ahead for their area show; the mind reading act is comprised of Joey Pipia (a student of Slydini) and daughter Phina.

The Holy City Sinner covers the Valentine’s shows planned at the new magic venue Holy City Magic in Charleston.

Quan Chung stopped by Houston’s KHOU to share his story and his magic… this is actually from a couple weeks ago but it was just posted by KHOU.

Meanwhile, in the “Magicians On Foreign Reality Shows” Department: Ben Hanlin has survived three eliminations on ITV’s Dancing On Ice, which continues on Sunday, and Cosentino revealed the “heartwarming reason” he participated on Australia’s I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here after his recent elimination from the show, which you can read over on the Daily Mail site.

Finally, it is not quite magic but a reporter from The Guardian shared her experiences training to be a mime.

Auctions, McAleer And Football Magic [Magic Bulletin]

Julius Dein doing a little magic for Ciara and Russell Wilson at the Pro Bowl kicks off our Thursday. Apparently there is some kind of big football game this weekend… I mean other than Man U’s game this Saturday.

The third part of the Jim Rawlins Magic Collection will be auctioned off at Potter and Potter at the end of the month (the 29th… it is a leap year). The free, downloadable catalog and information on bidding can be found on Potter and Potter’s official website. By the way, before the Rawlins auction they will be having a Disney auction for those interested in the house Mickey built.

Finally, the Reading Eagle talks to Alex McAleer ahead of his visit to the Pennsylvania town with the Champions of Magic.

Chris Ramsay Content Deal, New Brick And Mortar And More [Magic Bulletin]

From the 2020 Spring Festival Gala in China comes this clip… we are not sure who the performers are or why a video from a major Chinese television network is taller than it is wide!

Realscreen is reporting DIGA has teamed with Chris Ramsay to develop magic related content for both digital platforms and television. One such collaboration being developed is titled Magic Impossible and will see magicians trying to escape from various situations using only magic.

The Courier-Journal ran a feature piece on Lexington magician and autism advocate Cody Clark over the weekend; you can read it on Kentucky.com.

A new magic shop and venue is coming to Wichita. The Wichita Eagle reports Blackhart’s Magic Theater and Shop will offer magic classes for both kids and adults as well. It also does not plan to compete with Steven’s Magic Emporium. Even if you are outside of Wichita, you can still visit the new brick and mortar’s website.

Finally, no magic acts are scheduled for tonight’s episode of America’s Got Talent: The Champions.

Justin Willman On Fallon, Blaine On YouTube And More [Magic Bulletin]

Justin Willman (Magic For Humans, Netflix) dropped by NBC’s Tonight Show last Friday just to teach Jimmy Fallon a little magic.

It is a holiday in the US honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, so we are taking the rest of the day off after we fill in you on all the magic news.

America’s Got Talent: The Champions airs a new episode tonight and magic with be represented by Britain’s Got Talent alum Ben Hart.

Speaking of America’s Got Talent, the first magician to ever win was, of course, Mat Franco. Las Vegas Fox 5 is reporting Mat has signed on for five more years headlining his show at The Linq.

The Society of American Magicians broke away from summer conventions and held their national gathering over the weekend in Las Vegas… haven’t seen any video yet but we are looking!

Finally, YouTube has announced new shows and specials on their subscription platform, including a special live event planned with David Blaine. There are not many details at all, but you can read what little is known over on the Deadline website.
