Dorothy Dietrich With Tom Snyder

Posted by Michael on June 20th, 2018

We mentioned Dorothy Dietrich earlier today because she inspired a new young adult novel… But here is a look at Dorothy on Tom Snyder’s Tomorrow back sometime between ’73 and ’82 when that was NBC’s late night programming.

Christian Wedoy’s Breath Holding Stunt

Posted by Michael on June 18th, 2018

We are going to close the day with a little escape artistry… or is it escapistry? I am not sure. I am sure, though, this is Christian Wedoy. He’s an illusionist, escape artist and free diver from Norway, so it should not come as any surprise he is going to hold is breath for about four solid minutes during this clip!

Sam Powers vs Keto (And The Jaws Of Death)

Posted by Michael on April 23rd, 2018

Not a whole bunch of news this weekend… lots of coverage of the Copperfield trial (but no real new information). We did come across an interview with Harry Anderson on NPR’s Fresh Air from 1989 we missed last week. So let’s just jump into videos today, okay?

Today’s lead off video is Sam Powers on Australia’s Weekend Today escaping from the Jaws of Death. This video actually comes from the Daily Mail, where it accompanied an article focusing on Sam’s recent weight loss to prepare for the stunt.

Escape Artist Ben Murphy Stars In Evasion

Posted by Michael on April 5th, 2018

Usually when you see someone is starring in something, you assume that it is a movie, TV show or even a stage play. Australian magician and escape artist Ben Murphy is starring in Evasion, which is none of the above. It is actually an art installation device by Michelle Barker of University of New South Wales. Evasion is touring galleries around the world and you can keep up with Ben at his official website.

Escape Artist Michael Griffin

We’ll warn you: this is not the best shot video around. It is still fun to watch and escape artist Michael Griffin might have the greatest show name around at the moment… Enjoy this high speed rope escape from Michael Griffin’s Fifty Shades of Great.

See, we told you it was a good name!

An Underwater Escape From Christian Wedoy

Posted by Michael on March 27th, 2018

Christian Wedoy just posted this clip showing him holding his breath for over five minutes during a performance. If that wasn’t enough, he is also picking locks and making his escape. We are not sure if this is from a TV clip, but it is fairly well shot… and makes us happy we can are not underwater the entire time.

Jail Cell Escape Challenge!

Posted by Michael on March 23rd, 2018

This weekend is Harry Houdini’s birthday… there aren’t a whole lot of new Houdini videos out there but we did find this video on YouTube posted by user JiggidyNDG showing a visitor’s view of the jail cell escape challenge in the Houdini exhibit at the History Museum at the Castle in Appleton, Wisconsin.
