The Pigeon Magic Troupe Returns

Posted by Michael on October 17th, 2018

The latest installment of the Pigeon Magic Troupe has been posted on the official KBS Youtube page. This is an ongoing series of parody magic performances from the KBS network show Gag Concert. You can click on the captions for English subtitles if they are not already on screen. There is something about these bits I really like; I really think the performers have a respect for magic but still can poke fun at it.

Halloween Is Coming

Halloween is coming… and it is, arguably, a very American holiday. Sure, it has its roots in Celtic tradition but there is a pretty good argument to be made that the American version of Halloween (much like Christmas) is what has spread around the world. Either way, it looks like Indonesian theme park MAPS Perak is totally in the Halloween spirit with a little help from everyone’s favorite terrifying haunted schoolgirl The Sacred Riana. That that Six Flags Frightfest and Knott’s Scary Farm!

For this Video Friday we are going to present a couple longer videos… including this extended clip from a Japanese show called Knight Scoop which is kind of a nutty version of the old US show Real People. We aren’t sure who is actually being presented in this because the translation drops out (the subtitles say “Mr. ???”) but it is subtitled so you can follow along with this video from circa 2007.

Princess Tenko, Circa 1994

iTricks stumbled across this clip on YouTube featuring Princess Tenko from a 1994 Japanese program called Tango. We do not know anything about this show, but we do know that we do not get to see enough Princess Tenko in the United States. If the 1994 air date is correct, this performance was right before her most successful foray into American television, her Saban (the folks that brought the US the Power Rangers) cartoon Princess Tenko and the Guardians of Magic (and accompanying toy line).

Magic From Indonesia’s Make Me Power

Posted by Michael on September 6th, 2018

Indonesian magic duo Make Me Power was backstage at TV channel RCTI’s studios performing for celebs including singer Ayu Ting Ting. This clip is not in English, but we figured we’d pass it along because with acts like The Sacred Riana leading the way, Indonesia could become a real center of magic in the future!
