Comics (like musicians) have it a little easier than the foot jugglers, plate spinners and other variety acts which used to be featured on shows like Ed Sullivan’s. Still, there was always a place for a good laugh and Sullivan’s stage (which would later be used by Dave Letterman) was the launching point for many a comedian’s career.
