A who’s who of magic answers this provocative question. Many of whom steer the answer to an inherently sexual level. Which probably reveals more about those who you are answering than anything else.

The video was posted by R. Paul Wilson and was produced along with Jason England as well as Dan and Dave Buck.

Meh..no, I don’t think magic is an art. I think it’s a collection of deceptive techniques that can be enveloped within art. Someone artistic will find a way to present magic in an artful way and someone without the chops for artistic creation, will simply perform the technique flawlessly in a hospital food, bland sort or way.

What the guy said at 2:44 is extraordinarily pretentious. Art is not dictated by who your audience is. Just because you dedicated yourself to pleasing committees of your peers doesn’t automatically make you superior to someone who makes their living entertaining people. Creating an entertaining performance is an art and those who do it well deserve the title of artist no matter what their audience is.
