Wayne Houchin was burned during an appearance in support of the Curiosidades show in the Dominican Republic. He released the above picture and the following statement on his Twitter and Facebook:

Monday while appearing on a TV show in the Dominican Republic, the TV host took a handful of Aqua De Florida, ignited it and intentionally dropped it on my head, setting me on fire.

I was not aware he was going to do this. This was not a stunt or part of an act – this was a criminal attack. The fast actions of the rest of our Curiosidades team saved my life. The fire was put out and I was rushed to the emergency room. I have bad burns on my head, face, neck and right hand. I am in pain, but am recovering.  I will update you on the situation when I can.

Houchin was most recently seen on Discovery Channel’s Breaking Magic. Aqua de Florida or Florida Water is a flammable cologne popular in Latin Countries.

Everyone at iTricks wishes Wayne a speedy recovery. We will bring you any possible updates as they become available.

    wow that sucks!

Apparently Aqua de florida is some sort of “sacred cleansing spray” used by shaman… in case that spreads any light on the hosts motive…

    Dear friends:

As you have noticed, starting Monday 26th of November, our messages to our fans have decreased significantly. Unfortunately our team was criminally assaulted in the person of Wayne Houchin.

At 12:35 noon when Bolívar Bueno, Wayne and Fran Houchin ended recording their segment on the TV program “Acércate a los Astros de la señora Adriana Azzi,” which was being hosted by Mr. Franklin Barazarte (Wayne’s attacker), who also serves as the director of the TV show, who without notice and without any security measures, offered to “give them” a blessing using “Agua de Florida” (which is highly flammable due to its high alcohol content) proceeded to set fire to Wayne Houchin, resulting in serious burns to his face, neck, right ear, and his right hand.

We stress that this event was not part of our presentation, nor did we receive any notice that the host was going to carry out this PREMEDITATED CRIMINAL ACT.

Unfortunately the TV studio facilities did not have fire extinguishers, or first aid kits, anywhere on premises. Repeated requests for help to the staff of the studios were ignored. Only the rapid and efficient response by our team saved Wayne’s life.

Right now he is stable, but sadly some called “journalists”, lacking professionalism and sensitivity to human suffering, have taken a very unfortunate event and have used their airtime to ridicule Wayne for suffering this tragedy.

Misters Aridio Castillo and Domingo Bautista of the Dominican TV magazine “Super Revista”, publicly have accused our team of practicing VooDoo and witchcraft and that the attack was divine justice for the evils of our cast members’ practices.

We ask you, our friends and family, for your prayers and positive thoughts for the speedy recovery of our friend and colleague Wayne Houchin.

if a court of law can’t remedy this, somebody needs to? google bomb the host as “TV show arsonist” or something to that effect

This dude needs a beat down. I started my career under the guise of Wayne Houchin, when he produced my favorites Stigmata and Sinful with Ellusionist. This is bullshit.

  • Don

Under the guise of Wayne Houchin? You started your career pretending to be him?
