We came across this little tidbit in a story about Australia’s Got Talent finalist Consentino’s upcoming tour…
The trick involved making a coin “disappear” using sleight of hand.
“I showed my dad who was a structural engineer so quite an intelligent man,” Cosentino said.
“When I did the trick my dad asked, ‘How did you do that?’
“Here is a man who built bridges and I had shown my father something that he couldn’t explain.
“That was the beginning and that was the rush.”
Which got me thinking, who is the first person you guys remember fooling. My career as a sleight of hand artist began and ended in my third grade classroom when I got burned flashing a coin gimmick. My classmate was so proud of herself for spotting it that she pointed and laughed.
It was then I knew my lot in life was to write about the art, never to sully the grand tradition of prestidigitation with my bungling fingers again.
But surely, most of you got further than I did.
