Lance Burton Produced A Tiger In KITT On Knight Rider

Posted by Pepka on August 31st, 2011

In 1985, I was 11 and one of the hottest shows on TV was Knight Rider. You know, talking car that drives itself, big hair….THE HOFF! In the 4th season an episode called Deadly Knightshade featured a young Lance Burton guest starring as the hearse-driving, murderous magician Templeton. During the episode, he performed some of his classic dove work, The Table of Death, and in this clip, goes all Sigfried and Roy producing a Tiger in KITT.

So… Franz Harary Got A Shout Out From The Beastie Boys

Posted by Editor on August 31st, 2011

There are a few levels of a fame that mean more to your humble editor personally than a shout out from the Beastie Boys. With that preface, we execute a deep, reverential bow in the direction of Franz Harary who earned himself that exact lofty accolade on the Beastie Boys newest record Hot Sauce Committee Part Two.

Here is the lyrics:

Like Franz Harary, I’m a magic man
Films in the cam, cat’s in the bag, carpet is shag
You can try to take the boast, but you can’t take the brag

Thanks to Morgan Strebler for passing this along.

When Uri Geller Teamed Up With Daredevil…

Posted by Randy on August 31st, 2011

Uri Geller and DaredevilA hero blinded in a tragic accident only to develop heightened senses-a “radar sense”; a young phenomenon with extra sensory powers given to him from a strange light. Sounds like a perfect combo for a team up, and it was in Daredevil 133 as Daredevil teams up with Uri Geller.

This comic was published in 1976 when Uri was still a rising star and prior to the “meeting” with James Randi.

Within the frame work of the comic, it is an interesting subtlety that Daredevil has the ability to read peoples heart beat’s and tell if they are telling the truth, and Uri’s “origin of his powers story” is wholly accepted. Uri also mentions that Marv Wolfman (comic writer) was approached by Stan “The Man” Lee to use Uri in a story. Marv was skeptical, but after having his own key bent by Uri, Marv was convinced he had powers.

This comic really stands out as one that uses a real magician within its pages and sculpts a comic book story that blends the 2 well(keeping in mind the story is written in the 70’s and the cheese factor is HUGE).

Geller, helps free Daredevil from the villain, uses his powers to break the villains gun, and displays other heroic actions and powers in this issue.

Uri has scans of the issue, and his take on the story HERE

Ben Train has been known in the magic underground as a dedicated and knowledgable practitioner of card magic for years. Coming to you straight from the frosty fields of Canada, Ben makes his worldwide video debut with his Bold Assembly.

You show the four aces and deal them to separate spots on the table, where they are covered with a few random cards. With a light touch, the aces vanish one-by-one, leaving no trace behind. They are found together in the same pile, and everything is 100% clean.

In Lizzie’s Hands by Larry White and Bruce Kalver [Bizarre Magic]

Posted by James on August 30th, 2011

Lizzie Borden took an axe
And gave her mother forty whacks.
When she saw what she had done
She gave her father forty-one.

Anyone remember this rhyme? It was about a girl who was accused of killing her parents. The trick, in Lizzie’s Hands, is a spooky tale concerning a letter, supposedly written by Lizzie Borden.
The performer lets someone from the audience take a look at the letter, then the magician reads it aloud. About half way through, the magician looks concerned, as he finishes the letter, everyone sees why, when he turns the letter towards the audience, we see a bloody hand print that has now appeared, where before there was nothing.

This is out of a horror movie. A bloody hand print appears on the letter? It seems like right out of something like Paranormal Activity. It’s perfect for a seance or that one creepy trick you would like to have in your performance.

The best part is you can hand the letter out as a souvenir.

All Girl Team Delivers Sexiest Magic Performance Of The Year

Posted by Editor on August 30th, 2011

You know what they put on fries in Holland? Mayonnaise.

You know what kind of magic acts they put on their Got Talent franchise television show? A bombshell squad of five gorgeous magicians to run through several illusions and kiss a female judge on the mouth.

So, we’d say they’re one for one.

Sittah’s Angels made their debut on Holland’s Got Talent and as you can see in the video above… well… wow. Is it the crispest performance of these illusions ever? No. Is that even remotely the point? Of course not.

In case you were wondering, the Sittah of Sittah’s Angel is indeed the FISM illusion winner. We like to refer to them as Fox Force Five. Fox, as in they are bunch of foxy chicks. Force, as in they are a force to the reckoned with. And five, since there are one, two, three, four, five of them.
