Lu Chen, one of the biggest names in Chinese magic, will perform a very rare pair of shows in Las Vegas at the Encore theater in the Wynn.

Quoth the press release:

Award-winning Chinese magician Liu Chien brings his “Liu Chien Magic Show 2011 – Witness Of Miracles” to the Encore Theater on April 30 and May 1 at 7:30 p.m. The show features exciting audience interactions and breathtaking illusions. Humorous and unexpected, Liu Chien’s show lets the audience experience the mystery of magic up close, and has earned him a place among the most influential magicians in Asia. The show will be performed in Chinese.

Tickets will range from $68 to $188. Vegas folks, does that seem a bit high for a show in Chinese?

Very excited to see how American audiences react to Chen.

PROOF! The Original “Shape Of My Heart” Routine

Posted by Editor on March 31st, 2011

Do you folks remember the “Shape Of My Heart” controversy from the most recent FISM? To recap: Shawn Farquhar won the competition with a card routine to the tune of Sting’s song, there was much sturm and drang about how elements of the act came from Russ Stevens.

It seems some intensive research has unearthed a shattering revelation… the roots of this act go far deeper, all the way to 1957 when Cardini used the song! No word yet how the magic legend got his hands on a song first performed by Sting in 1993, but we believe that just plays into the mystery.

Thanks for Tim Ellis for creating this gem and sending it our way.

One of our favorite original acts is drag queen prestidigitator Cashetta. After closing his Magic’s A Drag show at the Harmon theater in Vegas in 2009, Scott has worked steadily across the country honing a new mentalism show Extra Large Medium.

Now on Twitter, Cashetta has announced his return to Sin City at the Wolf Theater in what used to be the Greek Isles. His show will begin Friday the 13th of May and run at 6 p.m. nightly.

We wish Cashetta the best!

A man standing trail for allegedly stabbing another man in the arm listed Criss Angel Mindfreak as one of his obsessions while undergoing psychiatric evaluation.

34-year-old Michael Garry Caine stopped taking prescribed medicine, became reclusive and armed himself with swords by the time in 2007 when he repeatedly stabbed a man in the arm, leaving it “in pieces,” according to reports. While talking to a court appointed psychiatrist, he repeatedly mentioned a plutonium ring he believed could cause a “void in space” when doused with battery acid, an expansive conspiracy by the Freemason organization and Criss Angel Mindfreak.

Although we are unable to find a solid record of it, we believe Mindfreak began airing in Australia in 2007.
