Recently acquired from the estate of Dr. Hans Berlitz. A fully functional Re-Animator, circa 1915. Dr. Berlitz experimented in re-animating small animals like bats and parts of animals such as a monkeys paw.
It was also rumored that he could use the machine to teleport in-animate objects and open holes into other dimensions. The device comes inside an old aged wood box (and itself is primarily wood) about 14 by 12 inches and 14 inches tall. It has laboratory labels in German on the box.
When you unlatch the bottom, the top of the box pulls off to reveal the Re-Animator.
A machine with working brass gauge, dials, switches, lights, plasma chamber, sound and even a working smoke exhaust pipe.
The machine is activated by inserting a key into the lower front control panel. The second tier of the device has an “engine” made of wood on the outside with lights, brass tubes, steam vent and an active “plasma” chamber.

Mike Weatherford has been re-reviewing some of the marquee magic shows in Las Vegas and after giving a massive critical upgrade to Criss Angel’s Believe, he proclaims that Penn & Teller’s Rio show never been more creatively vibrant.
Maybe you have to see some of the other 100 to appreciate the effort that Penn & Teller put into their show. The two pack more bright ideas into their comedy-magic in their 10th year at the Rio than they did in their third or fourth.
There was a stretch there when it seemed the lads were starting to doze off in the poppy field of Vegas inertia. The show lapsed into a “greatest hits” mode, as the two channeled their separate energies into side projects, and audiences thinned in kind.
The big smart-aleck and the little guy who speaks with his face are still as busy as ever beyond the Rio’s walls. Penn Jillette is all over the cable news arguin’ shows and Teller directs the new “Play Dead” off-Broadway. But the bread-and-butter gig is folded right into this burst of productivity, and attendance counts are said to have perked up in response.
Did P&T get an A? Read the whole review here.

Fearnet.com reviewed Todd Robbins & Teller’s off-Broadway spook show Play Dead (SPOILER ALERT: they dug it) and found a pretty cool discount code for anyone who is planning on seeing the show through January 16th of the coming year. If you use ‘DEAD1′ at checkout, the seats are only $25.
Meanwhile, above is a clip of Robbins explaining the show.

Just after we posted David Copperfield’s performance on Regis and Kelly’s Las Vegas-based theme week we get word that another magician will make an appearance this week: Cyril Takayama.
The news comes from Takayama’s own Twitter although he is not yet listed among the other Thursday guests including the Jubilee Showgirls, Howie Mandel and Rod Stewart.
We are willing to stand corrected, but by our math this represents the first big American television chat show spot for Cyril since we’ve written this site. A sensation overseas, Cyril has only experienced measured television exposure here in the states.
Set your DVRs now. This is one you’ll want to see.
