We’ve been in touch with Michael “Six” Muldoon, an New York City magician who’s part of a pretty awesome cause. Magicians Without Borders is designed to bring the a magic experience to people who would most enjoy it in impoverished areas across the world.

Most recently, Six and fellow MwB member (Devonte) Roque Rafael Rosero went to El Salvador.

They are perfect for the children in El Salvador,” (Founder Tom) Verner said. “They are like ideal older brothers or young uncles for these children.”

Since that first trip in 2008, Rosero said, he’s traveled to El Salvador three times, and hopes to return again in July.

“Living in poverty, you sometimes ask yourself, what’s so special about me?” Rosero said. “Magic adds that uniqueness.”

Very cool stuff, Six is sending us a video from his latest trip which we will post here.

I am presently in India training 14 children to become magicians. My magic students are all children of sexually trafficked women in the brutal brothels of Bombay. 70% of these chidlren will end up in the sex trade as prostitutes, pimps or drug peddlers without support and guidance. I am working with an awesome organization, Prerana, that is dedicated to putting an end to second generation sexual trafficking. The qualities these children develope learning, practicing and performing magic -self-esteem, self-confidence, focus, discipline, presence and a deep sense of personal power– these qualities will hopefully help them to resist the violent oppressive pressures they face every day.
