As you might remember, Keith Barry predicted that Ireland would best France in World Cup qualifying last weekend by the score of 2-1. That match ended in a 1-0 loss for Ireland.
However, what we failed to grasp is that qualifying and elimination is judged over two matches. The second of which was played last night in France. The final score to that game? 1-1, making the combined score between both games 2-1. It was for the wrong side, but still. Barry also predicted that Irish striker Robbie Keane would score the first goal and sure enough he was the first tally last night.
As for a ready made excuse on why he was off? How about the controversial handball by Barcelona star Thierry Henry that set up France’s winning goal which murkied the psychic channels and distorted his initial prediction?
Not too shabby.
