The scrappy kids at Loading Ready Run.com are again set to bore themselves for charity with Penn & Teller’s famously monotonous real-time driving game Desert Bus. This is the third consecutive year that they will raise money for Child’s Play a charity that provides toys, books and video games to sick kids.

For those unaware, the game was originally included with the unreleased P&T Sega CD game Smoke & Mirrors. Here is a brief description:

Desert Bus is the best known minigame in the package, and was a featured part of Electronic Gaming Monthly’s preview. The objective of the game is to drive a bus from Tucson, Arizona to Las Vegas, Nevada in real time at a maximum speed of 45mph. The feat requires 8 hours of continuous play to complete, since the game cannot be paused.

Both years Penn & Teller have pitched in with monetary support and food stuffs to support the intrepid riders. You can donate now or wait until the run begins, the long slog will continue as long as certain fundraising goals are met. All will be live streamed as well, because, well, what isn’t these days.
