The DailyRecord.co.uk has a piece on Paloma Faith, She’s the lead singer of Back To The Future, the voice of that drink awareness ad in the UK, and one of the stars of the upcoming The Imaginarium Of Dr Parnassus.
She’s described as a mix of Amy Winehouse, Duffy, Florence And The Machine, and La Roux, but what isnt well known is that she also used to be a magicians assistant, the 24-year-old from Hackney, UK is one of this year’s hottest acts that almost never was.
After playing Andrea The Emo in the 2007 remake of St Trinian’s, Paloma starred alongside the late Heath Ledger in his last film, Terry Gilliam’s The Imaginarium Of Dr Parnassus, which is in cinemas next month.
Her ‘magic’ break came when she was on a bus when she was spotted and offered a job as a ghost on a ghost train.
I must have been about 19, dressed up as I usually am, and this amazing women, who was covered in tattoos, came up to me and said I looked incredible. I said she did too and she asked if I’d like to work as a ghost. I agreed and met these magicians who asked if I wanted to be an assistant.
When she watched The Imaginarium Of Dr Parnassus for the first time she commented:
I saw it this week and cried, Heath was a very nice guy. I’d finished filming when he died so didn’t meet the other actors who took on the role, such as Johnny Depp. But I met Tom Waits, who played the Devil. I love him so that was enough.
From dancing to being a ghost to being sawn in half as a magician’s assistant, Paloma is throwing everything she’s done and learned in five years into her new pop career.
