Lance Re-Signs With Monte Carlo For Six Years

Lance Burton announced today at the Monte Carlo that he will return to the casino for another six years. In addition, Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman also named July 7th Lance Burton Day. Not coincidentally, the 7th is when Burton plans to return to the stage after injuring his foot last month.

“I thought about everything, I considered every option,” Burton told The Associated Press. “I felt like I still had a few more shows in me.”

This is four years longer than the deal we initially reported on and we’re glad to hear it. The Monte Carlo obviously knows they have a Sin City legend on their hands and have decided lock him up for longer.

Congratulations to the Burton team.

Who Was Dan Sperry’s Mystery Bunny?

Posted by Editor on June 30th, 2009

UPDATE: That didn’t take long… see the screen grab of the Bunny Boy logo AFTER THE JUMP. Thanks to iTricks reader Victor for the grab.

If you missed last night’s Clinic, watch it. Now.

Dan Sperry went above and beyond the call of duty, breaking out some of his own earliest tapes to illustrate his creative decision making progress, workshopping a few videos from the crowd and answering all questions with cantor and wit. Also, for the majority of the broadcast he was joined by a incredibly creepy man in a bunny suit with a gas mask for a face, whom Sperry never once referenced or interacted with.

Viewers speculated all night as the identity of the looming character, but the most interesting theory came from a iTricks Frequency member who swears at one point the rabbit flashed the logo for Bunny Boy Collective, a site run by Rodney Reyes which hasn’t been regularly updated in quite a while.

We weren’t able to find the alleged moment, but if you guys can track it down, send a screen grab to iTricksStaff@Gmail. Was Rodney the rabbit? Will Bunny Boy Collective hop once more?

Craft your conspiracy theories and plot your guesswork in the comments.

Steve Wyrick Prepares For A Death Drop

Posted by Editor on June 30th, 2009

We can only imagine the Forth of July in Vegas is a sweaty affair. The arid desert climate must really make a summer holiday all the more toasty. But while you’re trying to keep warm with a half-warm Mr. Pibb and damp washcloth draped around your deck, remember this, “at least I’m not Steve Wyrick.”

Wyrick’s Independence Day will be slightly more complicated. And involve Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington.

Bennington, assisted by members of his new side project Dead by Sunrise, will lock and shackle Wyrick into one of the band’s equipment boxes. Connected to a crane by only a few thin ropes, the box will be dangled over a bed of 500 flaming spikes 80 feet below. The ropes will then be set on fire, forcing Wyrick to make his escape before the last rope breaks and sends him plummeting to a fiery death. Wyrick will have to jump 20 feet off a burning box to a safety rope and rappel down while avoiding the spikes and tremendous heat.

Fireworks will follow the escape so if you are in the Las Vegas area come on down and bring the kids.

No FISM For Swedish Lady Magician Malin Nilsson

Posted by John Houdi on June 30th, 2009

Sweden’s first lady of magic, Malin Nilsson, who was featured in an article in the November 2008 issue of Magic Magazine has decided NOT to enter this years FISM competition in Beijing, China. This is due to her recent signing of a contract that will probably make a buzz in the magic world later this summer.

She will perform her own show Unplugged at Skillinge Theatre  in the south part of Sweden this July before leaving Sweden to fulfill her (for now) secret contract.

John Houdi is a Swedish professional magician and comedian working mostly in Sweden and Scandinavia where he is reporting from. You can find him at www.houdi.se
