Will NBC Give America Derren’s Heist On Network TV?

Derren Heists NBC?

Although we have still yet to hear anything from the “powers that be” in terms of an official confirmation, the rumored details continue to roll in about NBC airing one of Derren’s specials prior to his Sci Fi series beginning.

iTricks has learned that the special in question could be the recent BAFTA-nominated The Heist. The hour long which documents Derren implanting suggestion triggers in the minds of three average folks and then setting them all off in the hopes they will rob a fake armored car with a rubber gun, could serve as a fantastic primer for an audience that will be “meeting” Mr. Brown for the first time and certainly give them idea just how devilishly clever his stuff can be.

If true, it would by no means be the first time that NBC has used programming from its cable family on the main network. Prior to the third season of (the incredible) Battlestar Galactica, NBC ran a hour long clip show designed to catch new viewers up on the plot-heavy series. This season, Sci Fi aired re-runs of NBC’s hit Heroes only days after they first ran on the mother ship. Similar programming schedules work for shows like America’s Got Talent and Deal Or No Deal with the CNBC network.

Again, this is only a rumor until someone from NBC says otherwise but if you know anything about this please email Justin@iTricks.com.

Rumor: Derren Brown Special To Air On NBC?

NBC To Air Derren Special?

We currently have calls in to the PR folks for Derren Brown’s Mind Control to confirm a rumor we’ve heard over the last few days. Word amongst the internets is that in promotion of the Sci Fi series, the crown jewel of NBC Universal’s TV holdings, NBC will air one of Brown’s U.K. specials prior to the Sci Fi debut.

As with all rumors, take this with a grain of salt until it’s officially confirmed.

The Week In Entertainment: Another Wizard Show Added

Wizard Of Gore

We just received this word from Jeremy Kasten, the director of Wizard Of Gore

Just had to tell you that, no doubt, due in part due to the support you’ve shown for the movie out there, they added an encore screening of the movie because we sold the other two out. It’s playing on Friday, June 29th at 7:00pm at The Majestic Crest Theater (1262 Westwood Blvd.)

So to any LA iTricks readers out there, get out this Friday and support Wizard Of Gore. It speaks to reason that the bigger hit it in during this film festival the more likely it is to get a wide release. As always, we hope for the best.

Anyone who didn’t hear Jeremy and Aaron Fisher (who consulted for the film) on the Magic Week in Review, please click here.

• Last night’s America’s Got Talent contestant Anthony Reed is also on the cover of the July Magic Magazine. Thanks to Derek Merdinyan for the tip.

• As the Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix film draws closer, Aint It Cool News is reporting that during the screenplay phase of the film a character was originally to be trimmed down or cut before J.K. Rowling suggested that the change could make things complicated when they make a film for her final book in the series Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows.

No word on which character it was.
