UPDATE: As pointed out by Fish’s management in the comments section, Tuna Oddfellow will appear on America’s Got Talent, not Fish himself as written below. Thanks for the clarification.

Tuna Oddfellow Is Talented Avatar

We’ve written a bit about the Second Life magic community here on iTricks before, but now it seems to have made the biggest imprint on the popular virtual world to date. Tuna Oddfellow, a SL magician nabbed the top prize in Virtual NBC’s Avatar’s Got Talent contest, this earned him a million Linden dollars (a currency that equates to roughly $3,800 USD) and a chance for his real life counterpart, actual conjuror Fish The Magish, to appear on next week’s America’s Got Talent installment.

The Second Life News Network has a really great look at what goes into an online magic act (finding and writing scripts, recording the proper sound effects, running the programs correctly) and how his win was basically two years in the making.

We wish all the best to Tuna, Fish and any other hemispheres of this talented magician’s personality we are not yet aware of. Click after the jump to see some footage from the audition process to see what he was up against.

  • Whoops! Someone pointed out to me I put the wrong URL! We're at http://www.fishthemagish.net/ (yes, there are two of us, a Fishman, and a Fisher :)

    Thanks!

  • Hi! There's an ambiguous statement in the story you took this from -- Matthew "Fish the Magish" Fishman isn't going to be on "America's Got Talent, " only his avatar.

However, we're hoping to do a general press release as soon as we get a confirmed date for the show from NBC, and we'll be parlaying this into a lot of local Boston media exposure, and ideally more all over the world.

Fish is really proud that his sense of showmanship allowed his magic to show through in an environment where, at base, it's all illusion. A hard audience to please!

We're hoping this will get him a lot of gigs and exposure!
