A boarding school set deep in the heart of the English countryside becomes the home of the ultimate magical adventure, as a chosen few battle it out to become The Sorcerer’s Apprentice in a major new series for CBBC.
Barney Harwood (Smile, Totally Doctor Who) presents the new series where 14 lucky scholars will be picked from auditions taking place across the UK.
The successful applicants are then whisked away to magic school where they will have 18 days of intense training by top professional magicians.
On the Magic Week in Review, both Justin and Andrew were skeptical about this, but we can only hope it turns out well. Thanks to Andrew Webb for the tip.
Criss was in a Long Island divorce court yesterday to begin what the judge said could be a “ugly two-year ordeal” if the sides do not come to a settlement. This is not our bread and butter here at iTricks, so if you want the details on the scene please click here for the Newsday article.
Some time ago a group of magicians decided to put together a deck of cards, not just any deck of cards, but a deck of cards that was to be signed by the stars of the magic world, a bit like a who’s who of the magic world, on the back of a set of playing cards.
They didn’t just do this for something to pass the time, the deck was put together to be auctioned on eBay on the 11th July, with all the proceeds going to the Make-A-Wish foundation, who grant magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses.
The list is staggering, click through to the post to read (SPOILER ALERT: P and T sign the 3 of Clubs) or squint at the picture at right, and hopefully it will fetch top dollar for a good cause.
Movieweb.com is offering all of the currently available Mindfreak (seasons one and two) on DVD as well as Angel’s official deck of cards and a Criss candle in a little contest they are calling “Cast a Spell with our Criss Angel: Mindfreak Prize Pack.”.
Click here to find out more about the contest as well as how to enter.
Of course the contest is being done to promote the THIRD (not fourth) season of Mindfreak currently airing on A&E.
“One of the highlights of my routine is a six-minute segment in which I place a lighted cigarette in a gentleman’s jacket and make it disappear,” said Tracie, 40, of Tarragon Way, Bourne.
“The new regulations mean I can’t do the trick on stage. I have plenty of other tricks up my sleeve but the cigarette act is one I’ve done for 20 years and I shall miss it.”
The trend of banning smoking as a public health risk presented one of the more controversial episodes of Penn and Teller’s Bullsh!t, this seems like it would have been a perfect addition.
And in quite an unceremonious fashion thus begins the first iTricks live appearance. If you are in the South Florida area and care to see me, iTricks Editor Justin Robert Young I will be waiting beside the Mayors store in the Galleria Mall in sunny Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The reason of course, is to patiently count the seconds until the Apple store decides to begin selling iPhones at 6 p.m.
So if you’re a fan of bloggers, magic or internet communicators make sure you say hello. Otherwise, I hope you enjoy your tactile keyboard. Ew.
When we say that iTricks gets old school, we mean OLD SCHOOL. If Abbot and Costello performing Passe Passe Bottles is not classic enough then we have no idea how you’re operating a computer let alone found an internet connection. It joins Lance Burton taking names and sawing ladies on The Late Late Show and Ed Alonzo getting burned alive as our favorite clips uploaded in the last 24 hours.
