The open secret that is Criss Angel’s Luxor stage show, is now rumored to have topped the $200 million budget mark. Vegas gossip overlord Robin Leach reports that Cirque du Soleil, the producers of the show, are determined to spend whatever it takes to create an unforgettable spectacle around the Mindfreak magician.
Luxe Life has learned that plans for the production to be premiered at the Luxor next spring are already well underway, with ‘Mindfreak’ mastermind Criss Angel … starring! He and his magic team have already begun the initial design phases of the illusions to be built. “Since money is no object here, Cirque simply wants it to be real magic,” I was told.
In context, the current Cirque hit ‘Love’ based around the Beatles catalogue was rumored have a final budget as high as $165 million. The soundtrack to that show, currently rests at 13 on the Billboard 200 chart.
If these unconfirmed numbers are to be believed, it represents Cirque’s tremendous faith in Angel to invest roughly $35 million more in his project then the one designed for the most successful and influential band in rock history.
