As 2006 comes to a close, everyone here at iTricks.com would like to thank all those who read this. We are only getting started, but as this site grows we will always be most appreciative of those who were here from the start. So thanks again and tell your friends.
In 2007 you can look forward to the same dedication to magic news, rumors and culture as well as much, much more. Remember, you can always send us an email at iTricksStaff@Gmail.com or leave us a voice message by clicking on the Talk To Us icon on the right sidebar.
Since this holiday is all about looking back, let’s dial it way back, and take a look at Robert Harbin’s Torn and Restored Newspaper…
The last of those directly involved in the Digg.com Exposure story has respond to our request for a comment. Read more about the story by clicking here or find out more about Smoothini by visiting his MySpace page:
You could tell the whole Magic Community that whether they like me or not, I’m still going to be here. Doing what I love, which is to entertain people. To make people happy, and earn a lot of money while doing that. And although I state that I don’t like magicians. I truly love people who love this art. Which usually aren’t one in the same.
I take the time out of my day to talk to anyone who wants advice on how to become professional, or to try to work with other working professionals. I just don’t have time for those individuals that judge and give opinions about me. Mainly because I actually sit down and read it and go through the millions of ideas in order to hone my image.
I’m doing a publicity stunt for the entire year of 2007. I am trying to raise $100,000 for charities. If I don’t raise the money by my birthday, Oct.15th, I will have a semi truck race at me. When it gets really close to me, I will throw myself to the ground and have it run over me at full speed. I am going to need the support the magic community on this one. I want to make magic hip, and current on a different scale and demographic than Criss Angel is doing. That’s all.
We don’t want to get a reputation for publishing anything involving a late 70s/early 80s leisure suited Copperfield… but here’s something else. Really swingin’ work and some pretty classy steps from David. Submitted to iTricks by Eddy Ray.
UPDATE: The Magic Cafe has deleted the thread linked below, if anyone has Anders full text, please email it to iTricksStaff@Gmail.com.
In a lengthy post on the Magic Cafe message board, creator of the Healed and Sealed Soda effect Anders Moden accepted the apology of Kevin Viners, the magician whose Digg.com offer to explain trade secrets led to an exposure of Moden’s work.
Kevin, apology accepted. There is nothing you or I can undo about this, and there is no way to find out what kind of harm this unintentional exposure has done. I’d like to think that you were just “unlucky thinking” as one of our swedish music promotors once said about a guy
Moden also went into great detail about his theory and experience with exposure in the past, and how it has built a hesitation in producing more for the magic community.
So how am I going to share the other 20-30 effects I have in my repertoire and notebook? Don’t misunderstand me, I don’t mean all are in the Healed and Sealed class, but it is things I have never seen anywhere else, and I would like to share them. I have published a few in various magazines, but as I do not make my living professionally as a magician, and since the time and effort I put in thinking about magic is so immense that it sometimes takes time off from the family (and there are times I take a leave off work just to explore materials or just to get time to work on magic) that it doesn’t seem fair just to give it all away. Magicians get money from doing magic, why shouldn’t I? And how else could I get money to order prototypes of gimmicks from companies, just to see if it works? Should I take the money I make to support my family? Not fair.
