This is Christopher Wayne not ONLY performing Andrew Mayne’s Gut Buster but also putting his spin on a scene from the DVD featuring our old roommate Berni. Guaranteed PotD bait. It joins a clip of Eric Buss feeding his rabbit as our favorite video uploaded in the past 24 hours.

Brian Brushwood’s Double Identity?

Posted by Editor on July 8th, 2008

Sure, Brian Brushwood has taken off from the magic world and become a full fledged internet celebrity with his Revision3 series Scam School. Now he’s even being implicated in complicated, improbable conspiracy theories along with other internet celebrities.

One intrepid blogger, attempting to prove a hunch by using scoring Twitter for evidence, seeks to reveal that Brushwood and saucy Mac fangirl iJustine are one in the same.

Because if they were not, how would you explain this!

1. They both claim to be at the beach in the same week!

2. Brian and Justine have never been seen in the same place at the same time

3. “Brian” has never been seen with his hair down

4. “Justine” has never been seen with her spiked

5. Brian’s job requires him to travel all over the country; Is this when he’s being Justine?!

6. Justine’s specialty is video editing; does she create Scam School?!

Obviously this is a joke, but it was worth writing about just to run that Photoshop, created by the man with the conspiracy theory PBurghStever.

Death Defying Acts Score Released To Rave Review

Although the movie has not done gang busters with critics it looks like the soundtrack for the Houdini-in-love story is something special. Zach of BloggerNews.net got his hands on an advanced copy of the score and hails it as a reputation maker for the composer.

The first thing you’ll think after listening to the almost eight minute long opening track of the score for Death Defying Actsis, “Why haven’t I heard of Cezary Skubiszewski before?”… unless of course you’ve heard of him before, in which case you’ll be asking yourself, “Why haven’t more people heard of Cezary Skubiszewski yet?”

The album is available on iTunes for the standard $9.99 fee. We guess the race is on to see which magicians can add it to their show the first.

Death Defying Acts opens in limited release iPhone Day… or rather this Friday.

Mercury Matchbox By Southworth:
 Mercury Matchbox By Southworth:

Illusioncraft is proud to present Mercury Matchbox by Mark Southworth. The card box is on the table in full view of the spectator. A card is freely selected, signed and returned to the middle of the deck. The performer announces that the card is no longer in the deck, and that it is now in the card box. The spectator opens the card box and empties out the contents. To their surprise there is a matchbox inside. The performer takes the matchbox, opens it and unbelievably reveals that there is a folded up playing card inside. The performer tips it out, and proceeds to unfold it. It is the spectators signed card!

The requirements are simple: four coins and a matching gimmick that most magicians already own or can easily obtain from any magic dealer.

Imagine you’ve asked someone what color his shirt is. After he responds, you openly write this color down so everyone can see it. Then you place your subject into the proper mind set. The subject “Locks the color into his memory” and verbally confirms that he has it. A few moments go by and the subject can’t remember the color, no matter how hard he tries! Inside you’ll learn how to perform “The Original Forgotten Ploy” with playing cards, a large sketch pad, a dry erase board, and even a combination lock!

These are the videos that iTricks.TV was invented for. A vintage David Letterman clip (and bonus commercial for Phil Donahue on a local LA station!) where a younger version of the gap-toothed late night host demonstrates some of his favorite magic tricks. Awesome. It joins a clip of Ed Alonzo at Knots Scary Farm doing his stage show as our favorite video uploaded in the past 24 hours.

A Tour Around The Magic Circle HQ

In what we assume is a regular feature in London paper The Metro, Jennifer Cox attempts to join various clubs of differing degrees of exclusivity. This week, she wanders around the head quarters of The Magic Circle.

The walk through is pretty much what you’d expect but one bit that really deserved expanding were her impressions of a nervous applicant as they ready themselves for their audition.

And in the Devant Room, three young magicians are taking their magic exams. Judged on appearance, personality, showmanship and technical ability, this is a tough gig – and the first would-be magician nervously drops his pack of cards on the floor. Magician of 60 years, Jack Devlin grimaces sympathetically: ‘Fifty per cent fail this exam’ he tells me.
